Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has revealed Threads' daily user count for the first time, saying it currently has more than 100 million daily active users. It's also speculated that the app's current trajectory means it could overtake the social network formerly known as Twitter.
Zuckerberg is likely looking to counter Bluesky's growing popularity, also citing a new milestone in monthly active users…
Threads' Latest Number of Threads Users
Both numbers were revealed in a Threads post, naturally.
Threads continues to gain momentum, now with 300 million monthly active users and 100 million daily active users
The post wasn't particularly well received, with a number of replies objecting to Meta's $1 million donation to Trump's inauguration fund.
The figures were supported by Threads chief Adam Mosseri, who thanked users for their support.
A big thank you to this rapidly growing community – we're doing something special together and will focus on making it even better next year.

Where your community is located matters. My community has migrated from the Bird app to Threads, so I feel comfortable there. Aside from the various artists and creatives I interact with on the platform, I really enjoy the discussions around tech. There's a fair amount of engagement there, but other than that, it's my favorite social network.
People who are overly focused on politics and always complaining about how [XYZ]'s social network is an echo chamber of [XYZ's] political beliefs are going to have those problems everywhere they go… because they are the problem.

The Verge notes that Bluesky apparently only has a little over 25 million users, though we don't know how many of those are active daily or monthly. Either way, it's clear that Threads is still the more popular platform.
Could Catch Up with X/Twitter
Social Media Today suggests that on its current trajectory, Threads could catch up with X.
It took Threads 10 months to grow from 100 million users to 200 million. Now it's grown to 300 million users in less than half that time. The social platform's growth is thus compounded because the more people post, the more people sign up to join the expanded conversation […]
At its current growth rate, Threads could actually catch up to X, which currently has 570 million monthly active users.
Threads is currently the most downloaded app in the App Store, ahead of ChatGPT and TikTok.
