macOS Sequoia 15.3 introduces Genmoji support.

The latest macOS Sequoia developer beta introduces Genmoji support, following the feature's debut on iPhone and iPad. Here's what you need to know.

Apple released the first beta of macOS Sequoia 15.3 to developers on Monday. While the software update contains few visible changes, it does include one notable addition: support for so-called Genmoji. Genmoji, originally introduced in iOS 18.2, are unique emoji created by users and generated using Apple Intelligence.

Users can describe the emoji they want to create, such as one based on an object or person they know, and Apple Intelligence will make it happen. Genmoji can be created using source images from the Photos app, or a generic person emoji can be used instead. Genmoji are also synced via iCloud, meaning they appear in a user's sticker drawer on all compatible devices, including iPhone and iPad.

Genmoji can be found in the emoji picker on macOS Sequoia 15.3.

On the Mac, Genmoji can be accessed and created from the emoji picker found in the macOS operating system. Genmoji can resemble a variety of objects, both real and imaginary, depending on the creativity of the end user and what they want to make.

Along with the macOS Sequoia 15.3 beta, Apple also released developer betas of iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, and visionOS 2.3. While the updates don't include any noticeable visual changes, they do include various stability and performance improvements. Apple's release notes list minor fixes for Genmoji and Writing Tools, for example, as part of the updates.

Additional Apple Intelligence features are expected to arrive in 2025, and the planned iOS 18.4 update will likely bring AI-powered tools to more regions. Meanwhile, iOS 19 could bring significant improvements to Siri through the use of large language models, or LLMs.
