PSA: Apple's New Mail Design in iOS 18.2 Won't Come to iPad and Mac Yet

iOS 18.2 is coming soon, and in addition to a number of powerful new Apple Intelligence features, the update will also bring a major redesign to the Mail app. But there's an important detail you should know: the redesign is currently limited to iPhones only. It's not coming to iPad or Mac just yet.

Mail redesign expected to arrive on Mac and iPad later

Apple has been offering iOS 18.2 in beta since October, and the new Mail app design has been available to iPhone users throughout that period.

However, the accompanying updates for iPad and Mac, iPadOS 18.2 and macOS Sequoia 15.2, left their Mail apps untouched.

So will the new design, with new inbox categorization, contact photos, and more, be exclusive to iPhone?

Yes, but not yet.

Apple has announced versions of the Mail app for Mac and iPad that include new features. The macOS redesign was recently shown off during Apple's M4 Mac announcements.

The updated app doesn't appear to be ready for other platforms just yet.

iPadOS 18.3 and macOS Sequoia 15.3 could bring Mail updates

My guess is that we won't have to wait too long for the Mail changes to filter down to platforms other than the iPhone.

It's possible that the macOS 15.3 and iPadOS 15.3 updates coming early next year will include the new features, and we may even get beta versions in the next couple of weeks.

The Mail changes in iOS 18.2 won't be for everyone, so maybe the delay won't be a big deal. Perhaps Apple plans to review user feedback and make changes before changing Mail on Mac and iPad. Either way, the iPhone update is coming soon, and you can try it out for yourself.

Have you tried the new Mail features in iOS 18.2? Do you want these changes on Mac and iPad? Let us know in the comments.
