Apple's AirTags to get first-ever hardware update new report claims tracked device will get more precise location accuracy.
Confirming previous reports, Apple is said to be preparing an updated AirTag, scheduled for release in 2025.
According to Bloomberg, the updated model is codenamed B589. It has reportedly reached the production testing stage ahead of what will likely be a mid-2025 release.
The new model is expected to remain the same in appearance. However, it will feature a new chip with improved location tracking and longer range.
This means that the new AirTag is expected to feature the Ultra Wideband chip that is currently included in the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 lineup.
Another change that is said to be coming to the new AirTag is a change to the internal design to make the speaker harder to remove. This is to prevent stalkers from easily disabling the speaker.
This rumored AirTags update will be the first hardware change to the device since Apple introduced the tracker in April 2021.
