Peloton has announced Peter Stern as its new CEO and president, and he just so happens to be a former Apple VP who oversaw services while at the company. One of his former projects? The Launch and Growth of Apple Fitness+.
Peloton's New CEO Oversees Services at Apple
From Peloton's announcement:
As co-founder of Apple Fitness+, Mr. Stern led it to grow to millions of members. He brings the energy of a founder with the experience of a veteran.

Mr. Stern spent more than six years as vice president of Services at Apple, where he led the Apple TV+ and Sports, iCloud, Apple News, Apple Books, Apple Arcade, Apple Fitness+, and Apple One businesses. Mr. Stern also led marketing for Apple’s services, including the App Store, Apple Card, Apple Pay, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, and Apple Maps. He also oversaw Apple’s advertising business during a period of rapid growth.
Apple and Peloton have long been compared because of their shared focus on health and creating premium consumer products.
Stern left Apple just last year, in 2023, to join Ford as president of integrated services. But even though Ford was his most recent job, his experience was mostly gained at Apple and, before that, Time Warner Cable.
Apple Fitness+ was ultimately only a small part of Stern’s tenure at Apple, but by his own account, health is a passion project for Peloton’s new CEO. So it will be interesting to see what lessons from Apple can translate into Peloton’s future.
Peloton is in a transitional period following the COVID boom. Peloton’s board is clearly hoping that Stern’s experience building and scaling cloud services will help Peloton achieve a bright future.
