Apple CFO Luca Maestri to resign

Apple CFO Luca Maestri has been with Apple since 2013, and his latest, incredibly monotonous, conference The earnings call took place on Thursday.
We’ve heard Maestri’s voice on quarterly earnings calls for more than a decade, but he’s stepping down from that role. Kevan Parekh is taking over as CFO and will be on the next quarterly earnings call.
Maestri may not be a keynote speaker or a household name like other members of Apple’s leadership team. In fact, he’s spent his entire career at Apple as a relative unknown, save for his voice and name — yes, we only have this photo of him.
While Maestri hasn’t had the same visibility as Phil Schiller or Craig Federighi, he’s made his mark on the company. Cook shared some thoughts on the earnings call.
“Before I turn it over to Luca, as Luca transitions to a new role at Apple, this will be the last time he’ll join our call,” Cook said during the call. “I’m deeply grateful. Over the course of 10 years in the role, Luca has done a truly exceptional job of shaping Apple as we know it today.”
“He helped lead Apple for the long term, thoughtfully and deliberately,” Cook continued. “He helped us enrich the lives of so many people around the world, and he was a leader that people looked up to and learned from.”
While Luca Maestri is stepping down as CFO, he will retain a senior role at Apple. He will remain in charge of the enterprise services teams and will report directly to Tim Cook.
His transition follows a similar pattern that has been seen over the past decade of high-profile job changes at Apple. Either these executives are finding it difficult to leave the company, or Apple is actively incentivizing them to stay in these new roles.
Either way, it might be a little annoying when we turn on the next earnings presentation and Luca Maestri’s voice isn’t there to answer dumb questions. Kevan Parekh has some big shoes to fill, even though he's been at Apple for a decade.
