Apple Vision Pro Guest Mode May Soon Be Controlled by iPhone

Code discovered in iOS 18.2 suggests that Apple Vision Pro owners may be able to control Guest Mode from an iPhone via a Live Activity session.
The current setup process for Apple Vision Pro is entirely controlled on-device. Once guest mode is initiated and a device is selected to view the display, such as the user’s iPhone, all other control is lost.
According to code discovered by AppleInsider, the Apple Vision Pro owner’s iPhone could play a big role in controlling guest mode in iOS 18.2. Once the Apple Vision Pro is handed off to a guest, a Live Activity will appear on the iPhone, allowing guest access and selection of apps available to the user.
The new system appears to work similarly to other handoff features, such as entering passwords from an Apple TV or accessing the Apple TV remote. It will likely not be launched from an installed app, but will instead work through a UI layer accessible from the Lock screen and Dynamic Island while the session is active.
Guest mode is currently difficult to set up, as once the headset is removed, all controls will be locked to what you’ve configured. If you enable display mirroring on an iPhone, it appears as a full-screen UI with a single “x” and nothing else.
Apple hasn’t released a beta of visionOS 2.2, so there’s no way to check if the feature is available or if the code is ready for a future release.
Apple is leaning on its ecosystem to make the Apple Vision Pro easier to access and distribute, an obvious move. There are rumors that Apple could push a more mainstream model that could launch in early 2026, so it has time to iron out some of these pain points until then.
