Apple Belfast, which opens on Friday 18 October 2024, will replace the previous Apple Store in the city and will be the only one on the island of Ireland.

The original Apple Store in the city opened in 2008 as Apple Victoria Square. It closed on 15 October 2024 and was replaced by Apple Belfast in a new location. The site is in Belfast's Cornmarket, about a minute's walk from the previous location.

The move follows a similar exodus of big-name brands from Victoria Square, according to the Belfast Telegraph. Apple Belfast is now located in a new shopping centre called The Keep, which has also reportedly recently added a multi-storey H&M store after it left Victoria Square.

“We're thrilled to be opening our new store in Belfast, having served customers in the city since 2008,” said Wendy Beckman, Apple's head of retail for Europe. “Our new home will be a destination for the whole community and will serve as a place to explore and shop Apple's incredible range of products, receive unrivalled service and support, and learn how to get the most out of your Apple devices.”

The new store will be a single store, rather than the two-storey layout of the old store, and will employ more than 90 people, who are said to include poets, musicians and singers.

This suggests that Apple Belfast will host special local Today at Apple sessions, as it has done for other store openings. However, Apple has not yet announced any sessions.

Apple Belfast is the only Apple store in Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom, and is thus one of 40 such stores in the UK. There are no Apple Stores in the rest of Ireland, despite the country being home to Apple's overseas headquarters.
