Long before Beats by Dre unveiled its long-awaited Powerbeats Pro update, the original version had disappeared from Apple's digital store shelves.
In September, Apple subsidiary Beats by Dre announced that a refresh of the Powerbeats Pro would arrive in 2025. In mid-October, Apple and Beats stopped selling the original model.
A search for the Powerbeats Pro on Apple’s online store in the US and UK doesn’t turn up a product, MacRumors reports, though other Beats products still show up. The Beats website also doesn’t list the Powerbeats Pro among its range of headphones.
While there’s no official announcement about the model’s discontinuation, it’s usually a sign that Apple wants to move on to a newer model relatively soon. However, Apple hasn’t said when exactly to expect the new Powerbeats Pro 2.
A search for third-party retailers so far shows that Powerbeats Pro stock is still available.
The Powerbeats Pro, introduced in 2019, offered a way to listen to music while working out without the risk of the earbuds flying out. In addition to the silicone tip, the Powerbeats Pro also featured an over-the-ear design for a secure fit.
Teasers for the new Powerbeats Pro indicate that they will have the same overall design as the original, though there are no hints of any new features like ANC.
