Although Apple mistakenly indicated that the M2 chip in the iPad Air has a 10-core GPU instead of a 9-core GPU, Performance claims it was used during the iPad Air launch and marketing materials are accurate.
In a statement provided to 9to5Mac, Apple said that that performance information for iPad Air has always been based on a 9-core GPU.
We are updating Apple.com to correct the number of cores. for iPad Air M2. All M2 iPad Air performance claims are accurate and based on the 9-core GPU.
Apple's website states that M2 The chip is “nearly 50 percent faster than the previous generation” and that it notably has “25 percent faster graphics.”
Apple recently updated its technical specifications website for the M2&zwnj ; iPad Air state that the device has a 9-core GPU. Before the update, it specified a 10-core GPU. The previous generation iPad Pro had a 10-core GPU, so it's surprising that the iPad Air version limited to 9-core GPU.
Others M2 The technical characteristics of the chip have not changed. iPad Air has an 8-core processor with four performance cores and four efficiency cores, along with 8 GB of RAM and a 16-core Neural Engine.
Since Apple took several days to fix the chip bug on its website, some users may have purchased iPad Air Believing it has a 10 core GPU. The two-week return period has expired for those who bought on launch day, but customers will have a strong argument for eliminating returns.
