Apple is working on a new version of the popular item tracker AirTag, which , will reportedly replace the current model at some point in 2025.

According to a new report, Apple's popular AirTag device will receive a new version codenamed B589. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the updated device is already being tested with manufacturing partners in Asia.

The device debuted in April 2021 and quickly became a hit. Details about what will be new in the device are sparse, but users can expect to see a more powerful chip with improved location tracking.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also predicted the arrival of a new AirTag in 2025 back in October 2023. He expects the new model to be compatible with Apple Vision Pro.

Gourmet said he would like to see a louder speaker, longer battery life and a version optimized for wallets. Third-party companies also make trackers compatible with Apple's Find My network, including ones designed for wallets.

Although Apple was one of the first tracker makers to include anti-stalking features in the original AirTag, it has updated and strengthened those features numerous times. Other manufacturers have since taken similar measures to reduce the use of devices to intimidate and harass others.
