Apple Vision Pro continues to receive praise from the medical community and is being used in even more number of surgical procedures requiring precision and detail.
Since its launch, Apple Vision Pro has been used by surgeons to perform operations on patients. The latest surgical use is in India, with the headset being used in over 30 procedures so far.
Surgeons at GEM Hospital in Chennai use a headset to perform laparoscopic surgeries, also known as keyhole surgeries. It has been used to treat gallbladder problems, stomach cancer, fistulas and hernias, FirstPost reports.
GEM Hospitals COO and surgical gastroenterologist Dr. R. Parthasarathy is an avid user of Apple Vision Pro and is optimistic about its benefits in surgery.
“There is no delay in transmission,” a doctor told The Hindu. “I had better vision and was connected to the real world.”
Parthasarathy added that everything that could be seen on the monitor displaying the view and data of the surgical instrument was also visible in the headset.
“Also, if I want to view a CT scan, I can see it on the device itself at the same time. It will display the scan next to the operation screen,” he added. All this helps the surgeon avoid turning his head to see different monitors, which can disrupt the operation.
In cases where he needed a second opinion, he could FaceTime a surgeon in another city. They could see the operation and the scan and give their opinion.
It was previously revealed that Apple Vision Pro was used in operations in Brazil and the United States. In the UK, one surgeon used Apple Vision Pro instead of HoloLens 2.
