Apple may make controversial changes: there are rumors that the screen size of the iPhone 17 Plus may be slightly smaller compared to the iPhone 16 Plus.

Over time, Apple has gradually increased the display size of its iPhones. Current generation models measure 6.1 inches for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro, while the Plus and Pro Max measure 6.7 inches.

In a tweet on X, Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants now believes that the iPhone 17 Plus will have a display that will be smaller than the iPhone 15 Plus.

While Young doesn't go into detail, he believes the Plus model will sit between the screens of the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro, as well as the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

If this is true, the iPhone 17 Plus will have a smaller display than the iPhone 16 Plus. In May 2023, Young tweeted the dimensions of the upcoming iPhone 16: the Pro and Pro Max sizes would grow to 6.27 inches and 6.86 inches, respectively, and the aspect ratio would be slightly larger.

However, Young said at the time that the iPhone 16 and Plus would be identical in size to their iPhone 15 counterparts.

Young's claim about a screen change for the iPhone 17 Plus is unusual, but it comes from a very reliable place. source. Young and DSCC have an extremely good track record when it comes to displays and supply chain stories, making this more likely.

However, although Apple has an extremely long production cycle for the development and production of its flagship devices and components, the situation can always change before Apple releases its hardware.
