Users in 92 countries around the world received notifications from Apple , warning that they could be victims of a serious and sophisticated iPhone hack.

In November 2021, Apple announced that it would warn iPhone users about state-sponsored spying attacks it discovered, and did so. However, according to Reuters, the latest warning concerns a rarer and reportedly much more sophisticated attack.

In a notice seen by Reuters, Apple told some users in 92 countries that they were potentially victims of a “mercenary spyware attack.” The attack is an attempt to “remotely compromise an iPhone.”

India is known to be one of the 92 affected countries, but there are no details about others. Neither Apple nor any governments have commented on the situation.

However, the Indian government has previously attacked Apple due to similar warnings in October 2023. In this case, the warnings were mainly directed at journalists and opposition politicians in the country.
