Access Keys have launched for use by X globally, bringing a new level of account security to users of the social platform.
In January, X introduced support for password login. This feature uses technology developed by the FIDO Alliance in collaboration with major technology players such as Apple, Google and Microsoft.
Passwords on X were originally available exclusively to iOS users in the US, but are now available worldwide, as confirmed by the official X security account.

Access keys significantly reduce the risk of password compromise or hacking attempts. Access keys are encrypted and cannot be intercepted or stolen during transmission, ensuring reliable protection of personal information.

How to enable passkeys on X
Passkeys as part of the Web Authentication standard (WebAuthn) are supported on iOS devices starting with iOS 15. Here's how to get started using passkeys on X.
- Launch the X app on your iOS device.
- Tap the profile icon in the top left corner.
- Navigate to Settings & Support” and then to “Settings and Privacy”.
- Select “Security and Account Access.”
- Select the Security setting.
- Turn on the Password option and confirm by entering your existing password.
Passwords are available on many other platforms , applications and services.
