Two more new iPads found in regulators' database

Two more unannounced iPads are now included in the Indian regulator's database, which means the expected iPad Pro and iPad Air. models are likely to be released soon.

All new devices, such as the iPad, must undergo regulatory testing before they are allowed to be sold in a certain territory. The only question is which country or region will come out first, and on April 4, 2024, it was the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) that announced the existence of two new iPads.

However, at this stage, no regulator is releasing details and India's BIS has only indicated that these were iPads from Apple and had model numbers A2836 and A2837. The question remained whether these were the expected two iPad Pro models, the expected two versions of the iPad Air, or a combination of both.

Now, as MySmartPrice noted, two more models have been added to the BIS lists.

Again, there are no details other than Apple's iPads with model numbers A2836 and A2837.

The existence of four different models isn't an absolute confirmation of previous rumors, but it does strongly support the idea that there will be two versions of the iPad Air for the first time. Apple will reportedly release a larger 12.9-inch version of the iPad Air.

The increased size is expected to be the main advantage of the iPad Air. Apple is expected to add an OLED screen to the iPad Pro.

OLED will improve the contrast and brightness of the display, but will also make the iPad thinner since it doesn't require a backlight. As a result, OLED also uses less battery power, although it is quite expensive to produce, so the price of the iPad Pro is expected to be much higher than before.

Please note that being listed on a regulatory database does not necessarily mean that a launch is imminent. However, regulators cannot test devices until they are ready, and this is unlikely — but is not something unheard of — that any company will delay the release of a finished device for any period of time.
