Apple may not release its own generative chatbot in iOS 18

WWDC 2024 may be just a few months away, and the company is preparing to discuss artificial intelligence — but one key Apple feature may not debut in iOS 18.

Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference begins June 10, and the company plans to unveil its artificial intelligence strategy. We expect to see AI improvements in Siri, although the company has yet to reveal many of its plans.

However, Bloomberg notes that while iOS 18 is expected to be an ambitious overhaul, the iPhone-based operating system will not add a generative AI chatbot. Instead, updates will focus on new proactive features to help users with everyday tasks.

However, this does not mean that there will be no chatbots. The company is also preparing to announce the launch of an AI-powered App Store at WWDC, according to analysts.

This is consistent with other rumors we've heard. It has been reported that the Cupertino tech giant is allegedly in talks with Google to license Gemini AI for the iPhone.

However, it is unclear whether Apple has already struck a deal with Baidu for generative AI technologies in China.
