Apple plans to maximize the display size of the new iPhone 16 series by using new ultra-thin bezel technology, says a new report from Korea.
According to Sisa Journal, Apple will use Border Reduction Structure (BRS) technology to minimize bezel at the bottom of the display. BRS achieves this by condensing the internal copper wiring into a more compact package.
Apple is reportedly planning to apply the bezel-less display technology to all four iPhone 16 models, due for release in the second half of the year. this year.
The company has reportedly tried to apply this technology to the iPhone before, but previous attempts were abandoned due to overheating problems. Apple's increased efforts to implement BRS are said to be due to recent improvements in heat dissipation technology.
Last year, Apple reduced the bezel on iPhone 15 Pro models by using low-pressure injection molding (LIPO) to make it smaller. display bezel size up to 1.5 millimeters (compared to approximately 2.2 millimeters on iPhone 14 models).
Additionally, Apple has not significantly changed iPhone screen sizes since the release of the iPhone 12 models in 2020. However, this is set to change with the 2024 iPhone 16 lineup. The iPhone 16 Pro models will have a significantly larger display size than the current iPhone 15 Pro models.
According to several sources, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a larger display size compared to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The iPhone 16 Pro will reportedly have a 6.27-inch (159.31mm) display, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a 6.85-inch (174.06mm) screen, with Apple likely to sell screen sizes as 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches respectively.
As the display size increases, the size of the iPhone case will also increase. The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will be slightly taller than their predecessors, but also slightly wider. The larger form factor of the devices will give Apple more internal space for components. For example, the iPhone 16 Pro models may get larger and longer-lasting batteries.
