NVIDIA Shared VR Technology Coming to Apple Vision Pro

NVIDIA Cloud Streaming Creates Complex Digital Twins in Apple Vision Pro

Combination of technologies from NVIDIA's Omniverse Cloud API will soon enable enterprise developers to interact with fully rendered 3D digital twins delivered to Apple Vision Pro.

You may know NVIDIA for its graphics cards or game streaming service, but the company also develops applications for enterprise use. The new software platform, built using Omniverse Cloud APIs, allows developers to send OpenUSD scenes from their applications to the NVIDIA Graphics Delivery Network, which can stream the content to Apple Vision Pro.

It was a lot of technical jargon and industry terms, which can be summarized as follows: NVIDIA enterprise developers will be able to upload their work to the cloud and stream it to Apple Vision Pro without having to run it on a local M2 processor. It also provides hybrid rendering, which combines local and remote rendering using Apple and NVIDIA technologies in one software.

The new platform was announced at NVIDIA GTC. If you're still wondering what this all means, CGI Katana showed off a demo of an Apple Vision Pro user using the NVIDIA cloud-based automotive configurator.

The car in the video is called a digital twin. Digital twin is an object like a vehicle, created using real-world statistics and metrics to represent it in a simulation.

Creating a digital twin is not as easy as rendering something like a car in a video game. To process all the data on High-resolution displays require powerful, dedicated GPUs.

“Apple Vision Pro's revolutionary ultra-high-resolution displays, coupled with photorealistic renderings of OpenUSD content streamed from NVIDIA Accelerated Computes, open up incredible possibilities for evolving immersive experiences ” said Mike Rockwell, vice president of the Vision Products group at Apple. “Spatial computing will redefine how designers and developers create engaging digital content, ushering in a new era of creativity and interaction.”

Transferring a 3D concept from a 2D monitor to a spatial computing environment can open up new possibilities for interacting with data. While Apple Vision Pro can't run these models independently, NVIDIA RTX Enterprise Cloud Rendering allows digital twins to be brought into spatial environments.
