Apple's next AirPods launch will be its biggest yet, with a report claiming that up to 25 million units will go into mass production in the summer and launch in the fall.

Apple is rumored to be introducing various updates to its AirPods line, including the possibility of two fourth-generation models. Now the supply chain is said to be gearing up for what could be Apple's biggest AirPods launch ever.

In Bloomberg's “Power On” newsletter, Mark Gurman writes that Apple is preparing to produce 20 to 25 million devices. This is apparently higher than plans for the release of earlier models.

The production pipeline will officially begin production in May through partners GoerTek and Luxshare Precision, with release to take place in September or October.

These two models are codenamed B768(E) and B768(M), which refers to the “entry” and “mid-level” versions. Gurman adds that both will have elements like a new design with an improved fit, as well as USB-C charging cases, but only the M model will get active noise cancellation and Find My speakers in the case itself.

New AirPods are just some of the changes planned for the product line in 2024. Upcoming updates as part of iOS 18 include a Hearing Aid Mode feature coming to AirPods Pro, and AirPods could get a hearing test feature. function.
