Qi2 is the latest wireless charging standard developed by the Wireless Energy Consortium, incorporating a Magnetic Power Profile (MPP) based on Apple’ ;s MagSafe technology. This ensures precise alignment and faster charging speeds of up to 15W – significantly improving the existing standard. Qi2 is backwards compatible, allowing older Qi devices to charge from Qi2 chargers at slower speeds. Qi2 was announced at CES 2023, and with Since then, a stream of new accessories has slowly appeared. CES 2024 seemed like a tipping point for Qi2 accessories. - Premium Feel: Although it is thicker than Apple's MagSafe cable, it has a more premium feel. I suspect the Qi2 technology requires a thicker washer to ensure safe charging, but it is much more durable and looks premium.
