Apple Watch's blood oxygen function helped a doctor save the life of an airline passenger

Apple Watch helped save the life of an airplane passenger by using the blood oxygen function prohibited by law.

Various Apple Watch features help people in need in different ways. However, it has rarely been used by medical professionals as a tool to save lives in an emergency with very limited resources.

On January 9, on a Ryanair flight to Verona, Italy, from Birmingham, UK, a woman in her 70s was found to have summer shortness of breath, prompting flight attendants to seek a doctor on board the plane. NHS doctor Rashid Riaz was on board the plane and intervened to help.
