YouTube TV Gets a Big Price Hike

By Julie Clover

YouTube sent out emails to YouTube TV subscribers today announcing an upcoming price increase for the service. Starting on January 13, 2025, YouTube TV will cost $82.99 per month for the Basic plan, up from $72.99 per month.

The prices are increasing so YouTube can “keep pace with the rising cost of content” and investments in the quality of its service. YouTube says it aims to provide customers with features like unlimited DVR storage and multi-window viewing.

YouTube TV subscribers can expect a price increase for the YouTube TV Basic plan in their first billing cycle on or after January 13, 2025. Customers who are on a trial or promotional price for the Basic plan will be eligible for the promotional price without any changes.

YouTube TV is YouTube’s live TV subscription service. While the Basic plan currently costs $82.99, subscribers can also add 4K viewing for an additional $9.99, premium channels starting at $1.99 per month, NFL RedZone for $10.99 per month, Spanish TV for $14.99 per month, and Max, Paramount+, Showtime, and Starz for $29.99 per month.

When it launched in 2018, YouTube TV cost just $35 per month, but prices increased to $50 per month in 2019. In 2020, the price of YouTube TV was increased to $64.99, and in 2023, it will be increased to $72.99.

Customers who want to share feedback about the YouTube TV price increase can do so on the YouTube TV support site.
