Buying Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies is getting easier as Coinbase today launches a new integration for purchasing cryptocurrency with Apple Pay in third-party apps. Here are the details.
Coinbase Onramp Adds Apple Pay Support for All Compatible Purchases
Coinbase Onramp is a platform for developers to process cryptocurrency transactions, so with today's launch, all apps that use Onramp will automatically have Apple Pay support added.
As it has done for years with online purchases of all kinds, Apple Pay makes transactions much faster for new shoppers.

The new feature comes years after Tim Cook mentioned that Apple was “looking at” accepting cryptocurrency through Apple Pay (he also mentioned owning cryptocurrency as part of his own portfolio).
However, little has changed in Apple’s own cryptocurrency efforts since then. The company allegedly had some involvement in the rollout of Coinbase Onramp. However, it is also possible that Coinbase was able to build the integration without any help from Apple.
