With iPad Pro, Apple introduced an updated version of the Magic Keyboard that adds new features that let you use the iPad Pro more like using a Mac. If you're thinking about purchasing one of the new iPad Pro models and don't know if you need a keyboard, this article covers all the new features.
Design
Apple has not changed the appearance of the Magic Keyboard and continues to use the floating console design introduced in the previous version.
The iPad has a magnetic back panel that allows you to use multiple viewing angles by adjusting the degree of tilt. iPad hangs over the keyboard and palm rest, which is now made of aluminum, like the MacBook.
The keys are backlit and use a 1mm scissor mechanism, just like the previous generation model. The outer cover protects the front and back of the iPad safe while traveling.
Function Keys
The updated Magic Keyboard has a dedicated row of function keys for increasing and decreasing brightness, changing volume, controlling media playback, locking the display, starting search, turn on Do Not Disturb mode, start dictation and much more.
The function bar is similar to the function bar on the Mac.
Trackpad
Apple made the trackpad out of glass and made it larger to make it easier to use. The trackpad supports haptic feedback, allowing you to perform multi-touch gestures and improve precision in tasks such as editing spreadsheets and selecting text.
Colors
Magic Keyboard comes in black color. and white.
Pass-through charging
Although the Magic Keyboard uses the Smart Connector on the iPad For connectivity, there's a USB-C port that can be used for pass-through charging.
Compatibility
The new Magic Keyboard is compatible with the M4 iPad Pro models, and it comes in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes. It does not work with other iPad models, and the previous version of Magic Keyboard does not work with the M4 iPad Pro models.
Price
The 11-inch version of the Magic Keyboard costs $299, and the 13-inch model costs $349.
