Earlier this year, Threads began experimenting with custom feeds to allow users to better personalize their experience on the platform by viewing only the specific content they want. A few months later, Meta is finally rolling out custom feeds globally to all Threads app users.
The Threads app now has custom feeds
The ability to create custom feeds in the Threads app is now available to all users worldwide, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri confirmed. The feature works similarly to the ability to create columns based on search results on a desktop computer. However, on the mobile app, users need to pull down the Threads home page to see all of their feeds.
To create a new feed, all you need to do is find a topic in the Threads app and tap the three-dot menu. Threads will then show you options to create a new feed based on that search result or add that keyword to an existing feed.
Also with the update, Threads is making it easier for users to choose between viewing search results based on suggested posts, recent posts, or user profiles.
Most recently, Meta announced that it would start showing ads to Threads users next year. The move comes as the platform has seen significant growth since its launch — Threads now has more than 200 million monthly active users.
The Threads app is available for free in the App Store and requires an iPhone running iOS 15.1 or later. Be sure to update to the latest version to access the new features.
