Threads app finally lets users watch videos in landscape orientation

Following the update that made Custom Feeds available to everyone, the Threads app is getting another huge new feature. Users can finally watch landscape videos on the mobile app — something major that was missing until now.

Threads now supports landscape videos

The news was confirmed by the Threads team after some users noticed a change. Previously, even if you tapped on a video in the Threads app to view it full screen, the app wouldn’t rotate for landscape videos. The latest update to the Threads app changes that, allowing users to watch videos and even view photos in landscape orientation.

“You found it,” the official Threads account replied to the user. 9to5Mac was able to confirm that the feature is indeed now available with the latest update to the iOS app.

Earlier this week, Meta began rolling out an option to allow all users to create custom feeds on Threads. Meanwhile, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri recently confirmed that the company would be changing its algorithms to prioritize content from accounts you follow. Mosseri also revealed that Threads will soon allow users to search for posts within a specific date range.

Most recently, Meta announced that it would begin showing ads to Threads users next year. The move comes as the platform has seen significant growth since its launch — Threads now has more than 200 million monthly active users.

The Threads app is available for free in the App Store and requires an iPhone running iOS 15.1 or later. Be sure to update to the latest version to get access to the new features.
