These Are My Favorite HomeKit Accessories This Holiday Season

HomeKit accessories are always at the top of my holiday wish list every year. I love making my home as smart as possible, but it can often be hard to justify spending my own money on such accessories.

Here are some of my smart home recommendations for holiday shopping this year — and they all integrate with Apple's HomeKit platform.

Home Key Smart Locks

One of my favorite HomeKit features is Home Key. It allows you to lock and unlock your door by tapping your iPhone or Apple Watch.

Home Key-enabled smart locks can vary greatly in price. I recommend the Aqara Smart Lock U50, but here are a few other options:

Smart Plugs

HomeKit-enabled smart plugs are a great stocking stuffer. They can turn almost anything into a smart accessory, like lamps, fairy lights, Christmas trees, and more. I'm a big fan of the Merros Smart Plug Mini, which you can buy in a pack of four on Amazon.

Door and Window Sensors

Smart Thermostat

Water Sensor

If you’re a homeowner, you know that water is your home’s number one enemy. Using a HomeKit water sensor means you’ll know right away if you have a leak. I recommend getting a few of these and placing them throughout your home.

HomePod or Apple TV

If you’re starting from scratch with HomeKit, you’ll want a home hub to control your accessories while you’re away from home. For a hub, you can use either an Apple TV or HomePod. In my testing, I found the Apple TV to be the most reliable solution.
