The ultra-thin iPad Pro M4 features a new internal structure that improves rigidity and heat dissipation.

The new iPad Pro is Apple's thinnest product ever: the 13-inch model is just 5.1mm thick. thick (excluding camera bump).

The last time the iPad Pro was updated, with the 2018 model, there was a big controversy as people noticed that the iPads were relatively easy to bend, with some shipping bent straight out of the box. With this ultra-thin modification, the issue of rigidity and durability inevitably comes into play again. But in an interview with Arun Maini, Apple Senior Vice President John Ternus responded to these concerns, noting that the new iPad has a redesigned internal structure designed to make the device more rigid.

The 11-inch iPad Pro 2024 is 5.3mm thick, while the 13-inch model is just 5.1mm, making it Apple's thinnest product ever, Apple Senior Vice President Greg Jozwiak said. Maini that the new ultra-thin design has no compromises thanks to Apple Silicon and Apple's engineering prowess.

Ternus introduced the new 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro has a new internal structure that places a new metal cover on top of the motherboard board (Ternus describes it as a “hood”) and runs down the middle of the device, forming a central rib

This change “extremely increases the rigidity of the product”, which also allows for better heat dissipation. >

During its keynote, Apple said that the thermal performance of the iPad Pro has been improved by 20% thanks to the addition of graphite sheets in the main body and the use of copper in the Apple logo.

We'll be able to see these hardware changes soon as Only companies like iFixit and others will get their hands on the device to take it apart and reveal the new internals. The new iPad Pro is already on sale, the first deliveries are expected on May 15.
