Stardew Valley Now Has Multiplayer on Android and iOS – How to Access Hidden Mode

After months of anticipation, Stardew Valley's latest major update has debuted on Android and iOS with a slew of new additions, and it now turns out it also features a hidden multiplayer mode.

With Stardew Valley update 1.6.9 now available on Android and iOS, players can team up in multiplayer sessions to explore each other's farms and work together, just as they've been able to do on desktop and consoles for a while. The addition was detailed on the official Stardew Valley website.

However, the feature works a little differently. Firstly, it works by IP only, meaning you have to manually enter the IP address of the game you want to join. So it works best on a local network, but that also means it doesn't just work on mobile devices.

Mobile multiplayer works much the same as on other platforms, except there is no way to “discover” a farm. You can only connect via IP. However, you can join a PC-hosted farm from a mobile device via IP.

The ideal “mobile multiplayer” scenario would be to connect to a PC-hosted farm from a high-end mobile device over a local network (using Wi-Fi if you don’t have a way to connect your mobile device to Ethernet). That would be the best-case scenario.

Multiplayer also doesn’t show up right away in the Stardew Valley Android or iOS apps. Instead, it must be enabled manually.

To access multiplayer, players will need to open Stardew Valley and enter the “secret” code on the title screen. Using the leaves around the Stardew Valley logo, players need to click on each leaf in a specific order – up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right (↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ← →), and then click the “?” button in the bottom right corner.

After that, the “Co-op” button will appear just like on other platforms. The game can then help you enter the IP address for the game (which is the IP address of the device itself) and then join the game.

You can see the process in action below.
