Some iPhone 15 users are complaining about persistent Bluetooth problems

Posted by Julie Clover

Some iPhone 15 users are experiencing persistent Bluetooth connection issues that have persisted since new devices were released, as evidenced by complaints in the Apple support community and MacRumors forums.

Impacted customers are having trouble connecting their iPhones to older Bluetooth devices, such as car systems or headphones that use the technology. From the MacRumors forums:

Starting with ios 17, in my car (without carplay. BMW 2014) Bluetooth for calls often turns off. I make a call on speakerphone in my car and after a few seconds the bluetooth cuts out and I have to manually switch to the speaker in my Iphone. I've had this machine since new and I change iPhones almost every year and usually the x.0 version has some problems with Bluetooth but now there are 2 major releases for iOS 17 and the problem is not solved. Another iPhone 12 doesn't have the problem in my car.

Many complaints come from the ‌iPhone 15‌ users who are trying to connect their iPhones to Bluetooth headphones, car systems and similar devices, but some users are also experiencing problems with more modern products such as AirPods.

I moved from 15 plus up to 15 pro max (stupid, but I changed carriers so I got it for free) and my bluetooth connection is terrible. Car Bluetooth is ok. But on both AirPods Max and Beats Studio Buds, my music disconnects and reconnects, and calls drop out after 5-10 minutes. I did all the resets. We hope to receive a software update soon.

Reports of problems with Bluetooth date back to October 2023, which is just a month after the release of the ‌iPhone 15‌ models were released. These have continued through several updates, with the most recent reports coming from iOS 17.3.1 users. Some customers have been told that the issues will be resolved with the iOS 17 update, but based on ongoing complaints, Apple has not yet fully resolved the issue.

The cause of the problem is unclear, but affected users have both ‌iPhone 15‌ and iPhone 15 Pro models. Some people managed to replace their iPhones and this was the only way to solve the problem. Restarting, resetting, and other typical fixes didn't help those experiencing problems.
