Snapchat is launching a new feature that will work similar to Apple's Find My app, but will only be available to family members.
Parents will be able to request the location of their teens and vice versa, and some automatic location reporting will also be available …
The Verge reports that the new feature will launch alongside other location tools over the next few weeks.
After installing the update, an option will appear in Family Center that allows parents to request the location of their teens and vice versa. The center will also allow parents to view their child's location settings alongside their existing privacy settings to ensure they are using the app safely and responsibly.
If that's not enough, Snap allows family members to send automatic travel notifications that will alert them when you arrive at or leave three specified locations, such as home or school.
The move is likely a PR stunt to try to rehabilitate the company's image after a series of accusations that it was deliberately targeting teenagers with the app.
