Gourmet writes:

One of the standout features is the use of generative artificial intelligence for emoji. The company is developing software that can create custom emojis on the fly based on what users send in text messages. This means that you'll suddenly have a whole new emoji for every occasion, beyond the catalog of options that Apple currently offers on the iPhone and other devices.

Apple adds new emoji to the iPhone every year with iOS updates. For example, in March, iOS 17.4 added several new emoji characters to the iPhone. This new “generative artificial intelligence” feature will supposedly mean that users will no longer have to wait for annual updates to unlock additional emoji customizations.
