I examined the original version of QWERKYWRITER, but from the 10th racing race. And a new lower price, I add a few thoughts about this. The Upgrades Are Very Worthwhile Onees, So If You ’ D Been Tempted Before But Quite Enugh to Press the Button On An Order, Thine Might Well Change Your Mind …
The Updated Model
anniversary anniversary anniversary The publication is a very update, not a completely new model. It looks almost identical (only with a darker chrome species) and, in fact, works in the same way – the Bluetooth mechanical keyboard, which you can use with any Apple device, but with a certain shell for the iPad, which really adds to the machine visa. The 12.9-inch iPad looks especially good with him! But now he was thoughtfully updated for 2025. The return line also allows more characters if you want to use it as a macro key, although I retained its function by default as a reversal key for transportation for the full experience of a typewriter.
I said that the paper wheels would not turn, which was clear, because they were purely decorative, but I thought that it would have fun if they did it, even as a kind of toy! The company went better than this one: not only they turn, but now they are functional. The left wheel scrolls the screen (on the iPad you need to enable AssistiveTouch in the & GT settings; accessibility & gt; Touch & GT; Auxiliary touch, and I recommend that you turn off the gestures so that you do not receive annoying visual assistance on the screen). The right wheel is a volume control that I often used – there really is no replacement of the pens of a rotary volume. You just use FN-1/2/3 to switch between them, and there is indicator light to confirm which one is active.
The MicroUSB charging port is replaced by USB-C One, and this also allows wired communication with the Mac. If those that you can, to your taste, switches are also subject to hot.
The last time I said that, although I thought it was very fun, and worked very well, in fact, he entered into his senses, and I simply did not make enough writing on mine to justify him. I refused them after I found them too difficult to continue to exchange back and forth with the built-in MacBook keyboard, but with some excellent low-profile mechanical keyboards are now available, I return to this decision. Look at this space! You can support it on Kickstarter
qwerkyWriter is available on Kickstarter at an early price of birds of $ 199, which makes it much cheaper than the original.
Original review
i ’ M is an adult enough to start writing on a typewriter, okay in childhood. I could not imagine that he would return to one now, but in the sound and rhythm of keys there is something quite pleasant. Therefore, when I noticed QWERKYWRITER on Kickstarter Lace Lace, I always wanted to check it. In the photographs I liked the image. My questions were whether it would look as good in real life as in the photographs, it would be that it is novelty or a serious keyboard, and can it justify this price tag for $ 349? So, yesterday I tried it with my iPad, and today I used it with my Mac – including writing this review on it – to find out.
Let it begin with appearance. At an accidental look, you can really take this for a compact machine. In fact, I am almost sure that if you asked someone who was familiar with him, what it was, it was, what it was. A look at the keyboard on a typewriter. The chrome key is plastic, not metal, like the keys themselves. The photo below is intended for the anniversary. There is a deep slot in the rear, designed to store the tablet. This is a multi-platform device that will place almost any tablet on the market, and with my 9.7-inch iPad Pro, it really makes the most convincing imitation of the typewriter.
The iPad is reliably retained in the place when it is used for this, but for the fact that it is used, but for the fact that it is used, but for the fact that it is used, but for the fact that it is used, but for the fact that it is used, but after it is used, but after it is used, but after it is used, but after it is used, but after it is used, but after it is used. But after it is used, but after it is used for this. The illusion of a typewriter became so convincing that I just raised it at the base to move it and almost dropped the iPad in the process! This, of course, is in no way attached, just resting in the slot.
I mentioned that QWerkyWriter does not depend on IDEVICES, and this creates several questions. For example, CMD keys and options are the wrong way, while the FN & Nbsp key; Absolutely in the wrong place. (This is recorded in the new model.)
The upper functional keys, too, do not correspond to the correct display. For example, F1 and F2 control the volume, and not the brightness of the Mac. QWERKYWRITER tells me that he has a firmware update that corrects the volume and keys to brightness, but not others. This is one of the elements that is not purely decorative: it really functions as an input key!
This is definitely a funny touch, although I admit that I used it several times, and then just used the regular Enter key after that. You can also program it as a macro key, but only with five characters, this is a limited use for this. QWERKYWRITER is just a visual novelty, this is the right mechanical keyboard. It is very similar to the keyboard that uses cherry switches, but the company tells me that they cannot get them in sufficient quantities, so they used it instead. Cherry are German, and NBSP; Kailh is a Chinese copy, which, of course, immediately raises qualitative questions. However, in use it seemed very similar to the I ’ keyboard; Used with cherry switches. The trip is good, the sensation is positive, and they have such a wonderful sound (QWERKYWRITER has a record here). Thus, the only question is whether Kailh switches will have the durability of a real thing, and that I can’t say that I can’t say from a short review. I was not so concerned about numbered functional keys, since I rarely use them, but these two keys were pain. However, if someone wanted to use a full-time keyboard with Mac, there are ways to reprint the keys, so this is not necessarily a violator of the transaction.
Nevertheless, my outcome view after its use over the last part of the day is that, like the Mac keyboard, it is difficult to justify the money. This is sweet and all, but the illusion of a typewriter is less convincing when viewing the monitor, and there are much cheaper keyboards with cherry switches. It definitely feels fun, and this is a very good keyboard. In my house, my iPad is a tablet used mainly as a device for reading electronic books and NETFLIX devices. This is on the move where it becomes a pseudo-laptop, used for writing, e-mail, messaging, and so on. And this is really, where is the argument for QWERKYWRITER began to look a little dubious for me personally. This is a rather heavy and stocky thing that you need to carry with you. If you love him enough to want to use his full time, then disposable efforts to reboot the keys will cost. If you like writing machines, but enter a lot on your iPad at home, this is really the best of both worlds – gives you a convincing illusion without any trouble of real thing. For $ 349, this is a rather expensive toy, but I definitely see that some think it is worth it. Of course, there are a huge number of Bluetooth keyboards available on Amazon, including cherry switches. Also check the APEX M800 APEX M800 mechanical keyboard recently examined.
