Retro gaming emulator Delta is coming to iPad soon, here's a first look

Earlier this month, Riley Testut debuted his excellent Delta emulator for the iPhone on the App Store. Now Riley is hinting at a Delta extension for iPad, giving users the ability to emulate games from many retro gaming systems on the big screen.

To see, go below.

The launch of Delta in the App Store was made possible thanks to Apple's changes to the App Store rules allowing retro games. emulators after years of being banned. The rule changes also apply to iPad, allowing Riley to eventually bring Delta to iPad as well.

In a Threads post this weekend, Riley wrote that Delta for iPad will launch with the next major app update:

  • We've been working on it for a while now and it's close to completion, just finishing up the controller skins + fixing a few last-minute bugs.
  • We haven't prioritized the iPad as planned only launch it in the EU using AltStore PAL (which doesn't support iPad).
  • Obviously plans changed when Apple changed their rules, so we're favoring iPad for now. and it will appear in the next major Delta update (1.6).

In the US, Delta is available for free through the App Store – and you can and should support Riley's work through Patreon. In the European Union, Delta is available through AltStore PAL, an alternative app marketplace approved by Apple.
