Public Beta 3 for macOS Sequoia 15.1, iPadOS 18.1 adds these new features

Public beta users, a new beta is now available. This latest update to Public Beta 3 is available for macOS Sequoia 15.1, iPadOS 18.1, and more. Here’s what’s new in today’s releases.

Apple Intelligence is the Focus of Forthcoming Updates

Apple’s new public beta updates are coming just a few weeks ahead of the expected broad release, likely on October 28.

The focus of these releases is Apple Intelligence, with the first set of AI features included in iPadOS 18.1 and macOS 15.1.

On Macs and iPads with an M1 chip or later, users can expect AI features such as:

  • powerful writing tools
  • notification summaries
  • natural language search in the Photos app
  • item removal in the Photos app
  • and more

Aside from these AI features, another highlight of these updates is drag and drop support with iPhone Mirroring. This feature was first introduced in the latest public beta and offers a compelling new way to share files.

iPadOS 18.1 gets some improvements to Control Center today, including:

  • new offline toggles for AirDrop and Satellite
  • two additional controls related to the Measure app: Measure and Level

There are also new splash screens for iPad that showcase Apple Intelligence features coming to Mail and natural language search in the App Store. Plus a new way to share Apple Music content on TikTok.

Sleep apnea detection, which was already available to iOS 18 users, is now added to the latest iOS 18.1 beta.

If you have an iPhone running the latest iOS 18.1 beta along with watchOS 11, you'll get a notification if possible sleep apnea is detected.

Otherwise, you'll find a ton of design and interface improvements, as well as bug fixes, in today's releases.
