Today, Proton released its own Apple TV app, allowing users to access VPN services directly on Apple TV, following the introduction of built-in VPN support in tvOS 17 last year. The company also announced compatibility with the Apple Vision Pro.
The new tvOS app allows users to connect to the ProtonVPN network from over 8,500 servers in 112 countries, providing access to geo-restricted content while maintaining privacy from ISPs. According to the company, the interface has been specifically designed for TV screens, with larger icons and a remote control optimized for a comfortable viewing experience on a TV.
David Peterson, General Manager of ProtonVPN, noted that the Apple TV app was “one of the most anticipated and requested features” from their community. The service promises 4K streaming capabilities without buffering or throttling.
The app is available to subscribers with paid plans, including Proton VPN Plus, Proton Unlimited, and Proton Visionary. Users can download the app directly from the App Store to their Apple TV.
