New 2024 iPads still have 10 hours of battery life

By Julie Clover

The iPad Pro and iPad Air models Apple announced today continue to deliver the same 10 hours of battery life that Apple has been touting for the iPad for years, despite the addition of new, more efficient chips.

Apple ‌iPad Pro‌ has an M4 chip built on second-generation 3nm technology and six efficiency cores, or two more than the M2. The device also features a more efficient OLED display, but neither the chip nor the OLED display resulted in improved battery life.

11-inch ‌iPad Pro‌ has a 31.29 Wh battery compared to the previous generation model's 28.65 Wh, and the 13-inch ‌iPad Pro‌ has a battery capacity of 38.99 Wh compared to 40.88 Wh.

As for the ‌iPad Air‌, the 11-inch model has a capacity of 28.93 Wh, which is slightly more than the 28 .6 Wh, which was in the previous 10.9-inch version. The new 13-inch model has a 36.59 Wh battery.

Apple says the ‌iPad Pro‌ and ‌iPad Air‌ models last up to 10 hours when browsing the Internet over Wi-Fi or watching videos, but this drops to nine hours when surfing the Internet using a cellular data network.
