Kuo: Cheaper 'Apple Vision' Headset Delayed After 2027

Apple has delayed its plans to release a more affordable Apple Vision headset in 2025, according to supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. It will now take a couple more years.

Previous rumors indicated that Apple intended to release a cheaper Apple Vision headset next year with cheaper materials, lower-resolution displays, and no EyeSight support. This could make spatial computing accessible to more users. However, according to Kuo, that will no longer be the case.

Kuo still says Apple will release a new version of the Apple Vision Pro next year with an M5 chip and support for Apple Intelligence. It is unclear whether there will be any additional hardware upgrades.

The analyst compared the cheaper Apple Vision to Apple's HomePod mini, saying that “even after the launch of the cheaper HomePod mini, Apple's smart speakers have not become mainstream products.”

Apple seems to think that a $2,000 headset will not necessarily expand the reach of visionOS.
