Apple, apparently, proceeds to the standard of wireless charging QI 2.2 of the next generation, according to regulatory documents on the NCC certification website in Taiwan. Qi2.2-updating the QI wireless consortium (WPC) QI standard, building improvements introduced with Qi 2.1.
spottited.com-spottid to open two new models of the charger Magsafe-A3503 and A3503 and A3503 and A3502 – which support the modernized QI 2.2 standard. Chargers are equipped with a familiar design of a white washer with wicker cables in a length of 2 meters and 1 meter, respectively.
This is a noticeable update mainly from a higher charging rate. Qi 2.2 is technically capable of up to 50 watts. On the contrary, the standard Qi 2 is maximum on 15 W (although the iPhone 16 models support the modernized charging Magsafe – with a 30 W charger, the iPhone can be charged up to 25 watts). Since then, the WPC has released the QI 2.1 standard, but no Apple has officially support it.
Testing documents show that the charging devices work with devices from the iPhone 16, to the iPhone 11, which indicates that QI 2.2 Pucks will have wide compatibility with existing devices, but the charging rate will be limited when they use older models. Devices that want to use a fastest charging speed will require an appropriate expanded charger, similarly an integrated Samsung (PMIC) power control scheme.
In addition to faster charging, Qi 2.2 offers improved magnetic leveling and charging efficiency compared to its predecessor. The standard also includes reverse compatibility with old QI charger devices. It also increases the likelihood that the upcoming iPhone 17 models will support the new charging standard, but this does not guarantee that they will be charged from a maximum of 50 watts. Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 17 line around September, while a wider industry is expected to launch Qi 2.2-compatible phones, chargers and accessories at the end of this year.
