iOS 26 adds a light mark and several new ways to configure the icons on your iPhone home screen

As expected, Clear Light chooses a brighter look, while Clear Dark puts an almost black layer between the icon and wallpaper. You can choose “Auto” to switch between light and dark based on the current configuration of the appearance of the system.

Automatic dark mode

you can choose between “always” or “automatic” for the standard set of badges. This means that the badges of your home screen will always be displayed in a dark style, or only when the appearance of the device system is also installed in a dark mode. The new “Auto” switch replaces the old automatic mode and allows you to have a light mode when your device is in light mode, and the dark mode icons, when your device is in dark mode. This means that you can easily configure all the icons of applications in the Mac dock. It also means that you can finally make all your badges coincide with the iPhone, iPad and Mac.
