iOS 18.2 beta 2 now available for all iPhones ahead of December launch

iOS 18.2 is set to release to everyone in early December. Before that, beta testing continues today with the release of iOS 18.2 beta 2 to developers. As an update, iOS 18.2 comes with new Apple Intelligence features like Image Playground, Genmoji, and ChatGPT integration.

Notably, iOS 18.2 beta 1 was only available to iPhone models that supported Apple Intelligence. However, iOS 18.2 beta 2 is available for all iPhone models that support iOS 18.

Apple Intelligence features are, of course, still limited to the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 models.

iOS 18.2 beta 2 now available

iOS 18.2 beta 2 is available to developer beta testers with build number 22C5125e. There is no public beta, and there is no timeline for when this will change.

Meanwhile, iPadOS 18.2 is available for any iPad that can run iPadOS 18. Apple Intelligence features are still limited to iPads based on the M1 and newer.

iOS 18.2 includes a second round of Apple Intelligence features:

  • Image Playgroundlets you create “fun images in seconds” just by typing, offering two styles: animation and illustration.
  • Genmoji lets you create custom emoji based on text descriptions.
  • When you interact with Siri in iOS 18.2, you now have the option to access ChatGPT.
  • Writing Tools now offers a Write button to create text related to the topics you choose. There’s also a new Describe Your Edit option for Writing Tools.
  • Visual Intelligence uses iPhone 16 camera controls to help you learn more about the things around you.
  • Image Wand in the Notes app lets you turn rough sketches “into beautiful images,” and create images using context from the rest of the note.

In addition to Apple Intelligence, iOS 18.2 includes a redesigned Mail app that categorizes your email into four different categories: Essential, Transactions, Updates, and Stocks.
