iOS 18.1 beta 6: All new features and changes

iOS 18.1 is reportedly scheduled to release on October 28, which means we still have a few more weeks of beta testing to go. Apple released iOS 18.1 beta 6 to developers today, and it includes several notable changes for iPhone users.

iOS 18.1 beta 6 details

iOS 18.1 beta 6 is currently available to developer beta testers with build number 22B5069a. The update is also now available to public beta testers.

Beta testers can go to Settings > General >Update your software to install iOS 18.1 beta 6. Apple also released iPadOS 18.1 beta 6, macOS Sequoia 15.1 beta 5, watchOS 11.1 beta 4, tvOS 18.1 beta 4, and visionOS 2.1 beta 4.

What's new in iOS 18.1 beta 6?

  • Four new toggles can be added to Control Center. The AirDrop and Satellite toggles are now available for connection, and the Measure app now offers toggles for Measure and Level.
  • In Apple's Notes app, the Apple Intelligence toolbar icon has been slightly redesigned and now displays a pencil.
  • Grouped notifications now have a new icon that shows how many notifications you have from that app. Previously, it only appeared on notifications that were summarized using Apple Intelligence.
  • iOS 18.1 beta 6 adds a variety of new splash screens for apps, including Messages, Mail, App Store, and more. The splash screens highlight new features in each app, like Priority Messages and summaries in the Mail app. The App Store splash screen touts “more powerful search functionality.”
  • The camera control interface on iPhone 16 now displays a small tab bar along the side while you’re using it.
  • The yellow and green indicators displayed on the Dynamic Island have a new animation that disappears when you stop using the microphone and camera.
  • Apple Music now offers the ability to easily share music to TikTok, similar to the integration previously available for Instagram.
  • iOS 18.1 beta 6 and watchOS 11.1 beta 4 support sleep apnea detection, a feature that was previously unavailable in the iOS 18 and watchOS 11 beta feeds.
  • iOS 18.1 beta 6 adds a new notification to the Settings app to let users know that they can ask Siri to provide step-by-step instructions on how to change certain settings. This is one of the new Siri features powered by Apple Intelligence.
  • iOS 18.1 beta 6 makes several changes to the Apple Card interface in the Wallet app. Your Apple Card savings account balance no longer appears on the Apple Card page, and the savings account page itself now features new Goldman Sachs branding. (sincerely, Nils Stridine)
