iOS 17.4 beta 4: new features and changes

Apple today released iOS 17.4 Beta 4 to developers with a few notable changes. The update brings changes to the Settings app, adds a new personalized splash screen on reboot, and more.

Beta version iOS 17.4 4 details

iOS 17.4 beta 4 uses build number 21E5209b. It is now available to registered developers who can update through the Settings app by going to General and then selecting Software Update. We expect iOS 17.4 beta 4 to be released to public beta testers sometime later this week.

New welcome screen

When you reboot iOS 17.4 for the first time, you'll see a new Welcome screen personalized with your profile picture.

Battery and Settings Updates

In the Settings app, Apple has made changes to the Battery section” a menu that lets you know if your iPhone's battery is healthy. At the same time, Apple also announced that the iPhone 15's batteries actually perform better than originally expected.

New CarPlay feature

For drivers of select vehicles, CarPlay now includes a new option to display information about upcoming maneuvers through the “new instrument cluster.” experience.”

“Users will be able to switch the desired display type between the main screen and the instrument cluster screen by pressing the map configuration button in the upper right corner of the main Maps screen” Apple explains.
