In the iPad Mini 7 box: No charger in Europe, new braided USB-C cable

Joe Rossignol

The new iPad mini 7 does not come with a charger in the box in European countries, including the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and others. The change is likely a response to EU e-waste rules that come into force from 2026, but even some European countries outside the EU are affected.

The latest iPad Pro and iPad Air models, introduced earlier this year, also do not come with a charger in the box in Europe.

The lack of a charger in the iPad box only affects Europe for now. Apple includes a 20W USB-C charger in the box with the iPad mini 7 in the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, Brazil, and other countries around the world.

The iPad mini 7 will likely also not come with Apple stickers inside the box, as Apple aims to eliminate plastic from its packaging by next year. It's a trend we've seen all year: The Vision Pro, the latest iPad Pro and iPad Air models, and the iPhone 16 series also don't have Apple stickers inside the box. Buyers can still ask for Apple stickers if they buy these devices in person at an Apple retail store.

There is one small piece of good news: the USB-C charging cable included with the iPad mini is now braided for added durability.

Apple began accepting orders for the iPad mini 7 today, with the device scheduled to ship on October 23.
