Homey Introduces Control Panels: Smart Home Control Made Easier Than Ever

Today, Homey, the all-in-one smart home platform, introduced Homey Dashboards, a new feature designed to give users more control over their smart home devices. Available in the Homey app for iOS and Android, this customizable dashboard lets you create dashboards with widgets for temperature, energy, device control, automation, and more.

Homey Dashboards allows users to create and customize multiple dashboards tailored to specific use cases. Want quick access to the lights and cameras in the living room? Or a separate dashboard to control the media room? It’s all possible, and it’s all seamless. Dashboards can be customized and accessed on smartphones and tablets, with a column-based design that makes navigation easy—no awkward horizontal scrolling required. The Homey app’s home screen now doubles as a dashboard, complete with customizable widgets.

Homey Dashboards comes with over 25 built-in widgets, covering everything from device controls and automation flows to weather and camera feeds. But that’s just the beginning — the Homey app ecosystem allows developers to add app-specific widgets, expanding functionality and enabling deeper integration with third-party devices. The Homey App Store now includes a filter for apps that support widgets to make discovery more manageable.

Older device support

In a smart move, Homey Dashboards isn’t limited to the latest hardware. While it’s free for Homey Pro (early 2023) and Homey Cloud users, owners of older Homey Pro (2016–2019) can access the feature with a one-time purchase of €25.

Homey Dashboards are available now and are rolling out with Homey Pro firmware v12.1.0 and app version 9.0.0. If you are using an older version of Homey Pro, a simple update will unlock the new features. While a free update would be ideal, a paid firmware update is better than having to buy new hardware.
