Home Depot and H-E-B Finally Bring Apple Pay to Their Stores

Home Depot has finally caved in and started rolling out Apple Pay and other tap-to-pay options at some of its U.S. stores in recent weeks, according to a photo posted on the Appleosophy blog.

The home improvement retailer hasn't officially announced that it accepts Apple Pay, so it's unclear which stores offer the service. The company said in a social media post earlier this year that it was “evaluating a range of new payment methods, including a range of mobile payments,” but hadn't made any “final decisions” yet.

Home Depot has been one of the biggest remaining holdouts from Apple Pay since it discontinued the service in 2015. Another company was Texas grocery chain H-E-B, which is also gradually starting to accept Apple Pay this month.

In a press release this week, H-E-B said it would begin rolling out Apple Pay and other tap-to-pay options across all of its stores throughout October. The company's other chains, Central Market and Joe V's Smart Shop, already accepted Apple Pay earlier this year, and now it will be accepted in H-E-B physical stores.

Walmart is now one of the few major retailers in the U.S. that still doesn't accept Apple Pay.
