Here's When You Can Expect Google Gemini's Integration With Apple Intelligence

There have long been rumors that Apple will partner with other AI-powered chatbot companies in the future to support Apple Intelligence features. Apple has already partnered with OpenAI to bring ChatGPT to iOS, and that integration is now available in the iOS 18.2 beta, which is expected to be released in December.

We haven't heard any announcements yet about other integrations, such as Google's Gemini and Anthropic's Claude, which Bloomberg previously reported. Apple's head of software Craig Federighi even said in an interview that he'd like to see Gemini integrated into Apple Intelligence, back in June.

However, according to recent information from Mark Gurman's Power On newsletter, we may now have a better idea of Apple's timeline:

Other upcoming improvements include integration with Google's Gemini. But Apple will likely give OpenAI a nice window of exclusivity, especially since it's not exactly paying for the technology. So I wouldn’t expect the Gemini chatbot to come to iOS until next year.

So, at least according to Gurman, we likely won’t see Google Gemini integration until next year — though it’s not entirely clear whether that means in the spring (like iOS 18.4) or later this year, during the iOS 19 release cycle.

Either way, we likely won’t see Gemini integration this year, as some had hoped.

If you still really want to use Gemini on your iPhone, you’re in luck! Earlier this week, Google released a standalone Gemini app in the App Store, allowing iOS users to tap into Google’s latest AI capabilities right from their pocket.
