Gourmet: iPad announcement on March 26 is not planned

Earlier this week, the “Instant Digital” host on Chinese blogging site Weibo stated that Apple will make an iPad-related announcement next Tuesday, March 26, suggesting a potential press release ahead of the pre-order and launch date. However, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has now opined that this claim is “untrue.” >Disputing the March 26 announcement, Gurman did not share any specific claims regarding the announcement or launch date of the new iPad Pro and iPad Air models in development, recently citing a general time frame of “around late March or April.”

Gurman went into more detail about the timing in the latest edition of its Power On newsletter, saying there will be a “variant of iPadOS 17.4.” The new iPad models won't be ready until at least the end of this month, and it could potentially take “a couple of weeks” to install software in initial shipments. That timing, Gurman said, would likely put the new iPads launching “deeper in the month” next month, although the announcement could come a little earlier.

Along with the refreshed ‌iPad Pro‌ models with OLED displays, Apple's M3 processor and additional improvements, we're also expecting an updated ‌iPad Air‌ models, including a new 12.9-inch size option. Apple is reportedly planning to introduce a new Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro and a new Apple Pencil.
