Gourmet: iOS 18 will have a new home screen that will be “more customizable” as part of the biggest iPhone update ever

In today's Bloomberg Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman writes that users should expect updates to the iPhone home screen as part of iOS 18 While he doesn't go into detail, he does say iOS 18 will make the Home screen “more customizable.” Update: MacRumors reports that one of the changes will mean iPhone users will be able to freely arrange app icons in a grid, making screen spacing possible for the first time.

Apple is apparently believes that iOS 18 will be its biggest update ever. The key focus will be on artificial intelligence, and artificial intelligence functions will be integrated into the operating system. Apple may also integrate chatbot functionality through Google Gemini.

Apple aims to catch up with Google; with other tech giants and present a holistic AI strategy. Gurman says iOS 18 will include a variety of artificial intelligence features that will “help manage your daily life.”

Reports have previously indicated that Apple is working on things like Siri improvements, AI-generated playlists for Apple Music, AI-powered document creation in iWork, smarter reply suggestions in messages and much more.

>iOS 18 will be announced at WWDC in June along with other Apple operating systems: iPadOS 18, watchOS 11, VisionOS 2 and the new version of macOS. Apple will release the first developer betas in June, ahead of a public release in the fall, likely to coincide with the launch of the new iPhone 16 lineup in September.

We expect Apple to confirm a WWDC 2024 date in the next few days. weeks, as Apple typically announces the event and sends out invitations in March or April.
